The problem
Moot court competitions — mock legal trials run by and for students — are logistically heavy: each edition needs registrations, teams, schedules, brackets, results and entry fees, often across several events a year. There was no dedicated tool for it, so organizers ran everything through forms, email and hand-kept brackets.
The client wanted to replace that scramble with a single product: one place where organizers could publish events and participants could sign up, pay and follow the bracket — without the spreadsheets and back-and-forth.
What we built
We built a web platform (Next.js, MySQL) around a clear three-tier model: a top-level admin oversees event organizers, who in turn run their own competitions for participants. Organizers create events with all their detail, and everything for an edition lives in one place.
Participants register solo or as a team, pay the entry fee through Stripe, and follow the competition on a live results bracket. Each user gets a profile with their events and full history.
From event creation through paid registration to published results, the whole competition lifecycle runs in the platform — no external forms, no manual fee collection, no hand-kept brackets.
The result
We delivered a complete platform covering the full lifecycle of a moot court competition — from event setup through team-based, paid registration to live results brackets. Real competitions ran on it end to end, with organizers, participants and a supervising admin all working in one tool instead of scattered forms and spreadsheets.
