The problem
Katalizatory.org buys and recycles spent catalytic converters — a business where every price depends on the live market value of palladium, rhodium and platinum. Sellers (workshops and scrap dealers) need a fast, trustworthy valuation before they part with a catalyst. That valuation ran on an internal Windows application: usable only by staff, painfully slow — just launching it took minutes — and completely closed to the outside world.
It capped the business. Sellers couldn’t check a price themselves; every quote meant a phone call or a manual lookup, so reach was limited to people who already knew to call, and skilled staff spent their days reading numbers off a screen instead of closing deals.
What we built
We replaced it with one connected platform built around a single, searchable database of more than 20,000 catalysts. A mobile app (iOS and Android) serves two audiences at once: sellers browse and search the catalog, assemble a batch and submit it to Katalizatory.org as an order they can track to payout — while staff run the whole operation from the same app.
Valuations are instant. Palladium, rhodium and platinum prices and currency rates are refreshed on a schedule from a market-data API and cached, so a heavily optimized pricing engine turns metal weights, currencies, customer price groups and promotions into a price the moment a catalyst is opened — with no waiting on a live API call. What used to take minutes now happens immediately.
A public web catalog (catalog.katalizatory.org) exposes the same database to Google, turning organic search into a continuous flow of new sellers who can open any catalyst straight in the app. The whole experience is localized into 9 languages and 5 currencies, detected automatically from device, browser and location.
Staff sign into an admin panel by scanning a QR code from the app and run everything from there: catalyst data, metal weights and photos, users and price groups, subscriptions and access, promotions, order processing and statuses, multilingual notifications and analytics.
The result
The platform digitized — and largely automated — the entire business. Search, valuation, submission and fulfillment now run in one place, with no phone calls in the loop.
Today it serves over 20,000 registered users — around 3,000 active in any three-day window — across roughly 30 countries. The SEO catalog alone draws about 15,000 clicks from 100,000 impressions on Google, feeding a steady stream of new sellers, and orders now arrive every day on their own. Valuations that once took minutes are instant.
It also became a revenue stream in its own right: access to live valuations is monetized through pay-as-you-go credits and subscriptions. The outcome is a faster, transparent, self-serve operation — and a markedly more professional image for the brand.
